Combo seat question

If a combo seat (nautilus) is installed in carseat mode (via latch) is it ok for a big kid to sit in it and use as a booster? Or does it have to be uninstalled and converted to booster mode, straps removed, and de-latched?

According to your manual, it is supposed to be uninstalled and converted to booster mode. You can still LATCH it in, but you must remove the harness system.

Thanks. I know "because the manual says so" is an answer that we should always accept - but I'm curious if anyone can explain the rationale for this one.

This is the type of question that may be best for Graco.
I don't personally know what type of testing is considered when using the seat as a booster, but I'll also bump this post for you in hope that a more researched tech knows the answer.

This is just a guess and in no way an offical answer but my own thought process would be that the straps and clips could cause harm in an accident should a child be sitting on them, leaning on them ect. The child may not sit correctly because it is uncomforatble as well. Again just my own personal thought process.
