Check Install of Radian in Captain's Chair

Can y'all give me a hand? I was able to fit our new RN into my 2000 Voyager just fine, but the buckle is completely resting on the belt path. The seat is in solidly, but I'm worried about that buckle.

The angle looks good:

ry%3D480

from another (slightly different viewpoint):
ry%3D480

NOW, to the real question...here is the buckle:

Angle 1:
ry%3D480

Angle 2 ( I think this one's more telling):
ry%3D480

Like I said, the install is (otherwise) solid. VERY little movement (really none) at the belt path.

So here are my options...

If y'all think it's ok, I can leave it as it is.
OR
I have a middle bench seat I could put in instead of the captain's chairs...would that be better, anyone know?

Any help will be GREATLY appreciated!!

That buckle is unacceptable. What's under the plastic on the female buckle stalk? If it's webbing, and you're willing to do so, you can try to remove that plastic and then twist the female buckle stalk down, up to three twists.

Otherwise, look at the buckle on the bench, or get a different seat. That's not compatible the way it currently is.

That's what I thought, and why I haven't used the seat yet.

I'll take a look under the plastic if possible, and see what the situation is...I guess I may need to resort to putting in the bench. :( I love the captain's chairs.

I wonder how much they (the captain's chairs) have changed since 2000? Other people seem to have gotten perfectly acceptable installs..though I guess they could have used LATCH, which I unfortunately don't have. Oh well.

Here's an idea, can you loosen your install a bit but still get less than an inch movement? Maybe that would raise the boot just enough to get the lap belt out of that bad angle. And it may help to encourage the car seat a little further away from the buckle side of the vehicle seat.

It may not buy you enough room but it's worth a shot if you love that captain chair. :)

I did try that, no dice.

Does anyone know if the RN installs rf in the 2nd row bench of a Voyager/Caravan? IIRC, the bench has no buckle stalk whatsoever; that is, the female end is basically flush with the seat, so I think I should be able to avoid this issue with the RN on the bench. I will be able to get it tomorrow (my dad has it in his shed), but if anyone knows offhand, it'll save me the agonizing over this until then. ;)
