I am looking for the best car seat for my 9 month old (22lbs and 30 inches). I have a 2012 528 BMW and a LTZ Chevy Tahoe. Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Hi and welcome! Sounds like you have a tall child. With that in mind I would suggest a few different seats as I'm not sure what your budget is. There is the Evenflo SureRide/Titan 65 (around $100) its a basic budget friendly seat with no bells and whistles but an easy instillation and very long lasting.

A little more expensive is the Graco Headwise/Size 4Me/MySize (Not the MyRide) 125-150 ish, it has a no re-thread harness and adjustable headrest which helps it fit better in cars rear facing. Graco is known to be a little skimpy on cushiness though.

A more expensive option would be the Maxi Cosi Pria ($200 on Amazon) which is known as being very cushy and has a built in cup holder, or the Britax Marathon/Boulevard/Advocate Click Tight. The Britax also has a no-rethread harness and adjustable headrest to help it fit rear-facing in cars, and has a new innovative (super simple) way to install the car seat so if you plan on needing to move the car seat often it might be a good car seat to have.

Any of the seats should last even a tall child long enough to get them to a safe booster age.

Please also keep in mind the recommendation from the American Association of Pediatrics to keep your child rear-facing until at least age 2, or they outgrow the seat rear-facing by height or weight. The National Highway Transit Authority recommends you keep children rear-facing until 4 years old. You can read more about it here: http://carseatblog.com/9452/rear-facing-until-2-years-old-why-not/

Thanks for the ideas! I was looking at the Britax Advocate. Everything I read says the best car seat is the right one for your car. From the sound of the responses, it seems there are some good options out there for me. Thanks so much.
