Car Seat Laws - Florida

This is a two-part question. The first part is can anyone clarify what, exactly, the car seat laws in Florida are? We're going on vacation in a few months (from Canada) and will need to rent a car seat or booster when we rent a car.

Our daughter will be 3 by then. I need to weigh her, but she's around 35-40 pounds and more than 36" tall right now, so will be at least that big when we're there, probably a bit bigger.

She's in a Truefit convertible, forward facing right now. Advice on what we should rent/bring with us?

Bring your seat on the plane. You're going to have to purchase a seat for your DD anyway. Might as well use her car seat and have one less thing to worry about during the flight and at your destination.

ETA: Oh and rental car seats are N-A-S-T-Y. You have no idea what (pee, poop, vomit) has been in/on them or when the last time it's been cleaned. Also, it may be the oldest, expired seat you've ever seen. You just never know what you're gonna get

As far as the law is concerned, every child under 5yo must be properly restrained. However, your child isn't any where close to being booster ready so a FF convertible would be the appropriate choice.
