Bubble Bum question...

I am traveling with my two sons next week by plane. I planned on bringing a LB turbobooster for my 7 yr old and I purchased a Bubble Bum thinking it would work for my 11 yr old (he just turned 11). He does not five step in all vehicles. However, now that I have opened the Bubble Bum and read the manual it states that child should be between 40 and 52 inches to use it. He is 54 inches tall. He weighs 72 pounds so is under the weight limit for the BB. The manual says child must meet all the requirements to use it so I am guessing they tested it and those two extra inches of height that he has will make it unsafe???

I am frustrated since I missed the height requirements when I purchased it and I had such high hopes for having a booster for him that he could stuff in his carry on. Does anyone have any insight on why it would be unsafe for him to use the BB? He can still use other LB boosters at his current height. His ears are still below the headrests when he sits in a booster. I am guessing I should just have him lug his LB turbobooster or Harmony Lite Rider? He is beginning to be unhappy with booster riding but unfortunately like I said before he does not fit correctly in every vehicle and I don't want to take the chance with a rental car and not have a booster with us. Thankfully in my car we have integrated booster seats that pop up and he doesn't mind that.

So I guess all that was to ask would you use the BB anyway or not? I know what the answer probably is but figured I would check and see if maybe there was new info about the BB and the height requirement.

Oh you just made my day :). It will just be so much easier to stuff it in his carryon bag and only have to worry about stashing one LB in the overhead compartment.

ETA: I went on the actual BB website and they have the updated height information there. So 4ft9in it is. Thank you again KQ...in my scattered thinking I hadn't thought to actually ask the manufacturer...but I knew I would get good info here at c-s.org...lol.
