Booster seat for short driver-adult?

I am short (5'1") and I have become more aware of how a seat belt is supposed to fit and realize that when I have the driver seat far enough forward to drive in my Honda Civic ('96) that the seat belt falls across my neck. If I move the seat far enough back that I can't reach the gas pedals it fits fine so part of the problem is the seat is so far forward of where the belt attaches to the car wall. Is there some sort of booster seat that helps position the seat belt correctly for an adult in the driver's seat? When I'm a passenger, the seat is back far enough that the belt fits properly but dh can't drive me everywhere! We might be in the market for a second car soon. Is this less of an issue in newer cars or different brands?

My mom has this issue (she's 4'10). She's especially nervous about the airbags deploying because she wears glasses and is afraid that the force of the airbags will cause her glasses to break/damage her eyes. We toyed with the idea of a backless booster (like the Cruz), but then she would need pedal extenders because the booster would cause her legs to be even FARTHER from the pedals. And the pedal extenders aren't removeable (at least not easily), and my step dad drives her car sometimes (or she'll drive to go out to eat and he'll drive home) so that wasn't feasible.

Long story short, she's looking for a vehicle with telescoping pedals now that her lease is up. I have a Town and Country and the combination of the adjustable seat (I set the seat as far up as it can go without my legs being stuck, lol - I'm 5'2) and the telescoping pedals all the way out, it's perfect.

I just do my best to position myself as far away from the airbag as I can while being able to fully depress the brake pedal- I'm 5'2" and the belt fit less than ideal on me in most vehicles.

I have telescoping pedals in my 08 Malibu and I them!

I'm 4"11 and I got my mazda3 specifically because its one of the few cars that I can comfortably drive and the seatbelt fits me.

My previous car was a 99 passat sedan and it fit me and was comfortable to drive as well because of the fully adjustable seat.

I do sit awfully close to the airbag though.

My mom used to put her purse behind her..she's short too. Lol. I don't know if she still does that.

My mother-in-law is quite short (roughly 5') and uses one of these:

It clips on and helps adjust the seat belt so that it fits on the shoulder instead of across the neck. The site claims that it is crash tested.

there was a great adjuster from nz... don't know if it is on the market here or if they are STILL waiting, but it goes around the back of the vehicle seat and works just like the guide for a backless booster.

anyone remember the name of it?
