Best 5pt to booster?

Hello,
I am looking for a new seat to replace my Britax Marathon that was recently in a crash. It meets 2 points of criteria from the NHTSB for replacement. My son is 3 1/2 and I would like him to stay in a 5 point harness but I would like the option of a booster for later. He is in the 90th percentile for ht.

Any recommendations?

Thanks!

I'd suggest researching the Britax Frontier 85, the Graco Nautilus & Graco Argos, and the Evenflo Securekid 300 & 400. You might also consider the Evenflo Maestro and the Recaro Prosport.

How much does he weigh? :)

I think he is 33lb....I will weigh him when wakes up. I have a Subaru Outback wagon and 2 other children so width is a concern. One kid is in a Recaro Vivo booster and my oldest is 10, 5' tall and 120 lbs....these boys just keep growing!

If width is a concern, then the Evenflo Maestro might be a good seat to consider. It has roughly 18" top slots and a 50 pound harness limit. While it won't last long in booster mode once it's outgrown by height in harnessed mode, it might just be narrow enough to buy you a few more years harnessed and then you could look into narrow boosters. It runs about $70-$80, so it's the least expensive of the combination seats I mentioned.

I think the Secure Kids are a little wider than the Maestro, but I don't really know; maybe they are as narrow. They have 65 pound harness limits and the booster mode adjusts, so they will last longer in booster mode than the Maestro. The Frontier, Nautilus/Argos, and the ProSport might work if they happen to puzzle well with the Vivo or could fit next to your oldest, but they are wider than the Maestro. :)
