Madeline was around 20 lbs at 2 years old....she was rear facing until around 3 years old, then by her request right before she turned 4, she wanted to rear face again. She is now 5 years old, 36-37 lbs dressed and rear facing in an RNXT per her own request.

Here is her most recent pic RF'ing (last week I think? Her Frontier is installed in the middle, mostly for when other kids ride with us, she picks rear facing over forward facing....)

My ds was 20lbs at 2yrs old, and is 25lbs at 3yrs 4months. He is also super short with a short torso. He is going to stay rearfacing until he outgrows rearfacing, which at this rate will be a while esp sense I bought a seat that is overkill for his stats!

There's at least one seat that states 20 pounds, but offers no age limit. So in a proper use state it'd be legal to forward face a nine month old who is 20 pounds. But not for long. :) Graco Comfortsport. I don't know if the My Ride shares the lack of wording about age as well.

The ComfortSport does have a 1 year minimum for forward facing. It's not in the owner's manual, but it is on the stickers on the seat.

Haha!
It is nice to know I am not alone!
For the most part, car seat talk is like politics in our family- you just don't go there! I haven't really had too much contact with my mom's group friends while IN the car, so I don't know what they think!
Really, I am not looking for an excuse- people can think what they want!

I wouldn't worry about what other people think. My twin godchildren are RF at 2.5. Nour is the peanut at 24 lbs. and about 34 inches. Her brother is about 30 lbs. now and about 36 inches. I will keep them RF for as long as they fit in their seats that way. I even convinced their parents to turn them back RF in their vehicle. They both have True Fits in their parents car so they should last a while in those, especially Nour.

My 5 year old bounces between 33 and 30lbs. She was around 20lbs throughout her 2's, and actually was just 27lbs this past August at almost 5. She's also only 38.25 inches tall. That quarter of an inch is very important, LOL!

She RF full time until age 3.5, then went FF one day a week in my MIL's car, and continued to RF until this past spring.
