Affordable FF seats - Purple?

I'm in the market for two harnessed seats for my FF 3 year old. She's fairly average in both weight and height. I was planning on getting Maestros, I know they'll be outgrown in 3ish years but then she can move into brother's highback boosters and we can buy him backless for cheap.
I was looking around at options and she piped up that she really wants a *purple* car seat. If I can make that happen I'd love to, but if not I'm totally willing to tell her too bad.
I found a purple Chase and a purple Baby Trend Hybrid, but both have terrible reviews. Is there anything that'll last a few years in a low price bracket that comes in purple?

The Chase is fine, IF she's lightweight.

The Baby Trend is safe, but harder to install.

How heavy and tall is she?

14.5" seated shoulder height
39" tall
34.8 lbs dressed two days ago
3.5 years

The 40 lbs harness makes Chase not worth it for me at all. I considered the baby trend based on the full review I read but the responses in other posts in this forum made me decide against.

It feels somehow wasteful to get a convertible that I won't use RF, but then that does depend on when/if another little one comes along. Definitely going in the running though, thank you all!

I really don't feel the sure ride is wasteful. It cost ALOT less than many combo seats, it's great for travel since its light, and most importantly, it last long time!!!

Plus it's purple, lol!!

Agreed. I bought a Titan 65 (same as the sureride) as my 4yo's back up seat. Cheap, fits our needs. He prefers it to his $300 Frontier. Go figure!

The reason the SureRide is recommended is because with 19" top slots, it's actually taller in harness mode than a lot of combos, and it's $100. But you don't get a booster function out of it. So there is a toss up. However, under $100 it's a fantastic option for really ANY harnessed child under 65 pounds. I've put cabbage patch dolls in it and my 11.5 year old had just outgrown it by height (and 20 pounds over the limit, but it's a TALL seat. She's a lightweight and she still hit the weight limit before height).

Comparing specs to the Maestro, I do think I agree that it's worth it. I can get the Maestro 20% off with my employee discount and not that color of sureride though, so maybe I'll do one of each.
