Advice on an "extra" booster - Britax Parkway?

Hi there,

My 4-year (5 next month) old usually rides in a Britax Frontier - we have one in each car. I am thinking about getting a highback booster like the Britax Parkway to keep for other kids 4 and older who might ride with us, and also to be used as an extra carseat for when my daughter rides with others.

The Frontier is so heavy and difficult to move into other people's cars, and I don't trust other folks to install it correctly. All of my daughter's friends already ride in boosters so this is not a downgrade in safety for those kids.

Am also consider the booster for upcoming travel - easier to check, install, etc.

Yes, I know the Frontier is safer and will keep her in 5-point harness for as long as I can. Just considering the Britax Parkwayfor a back-up and for minimal use instances. Would also consider the Oobr but that is so pricey.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Keep in mind the Parkway has a 40lb minimum limit on it. So if other kids aren't 40lbs then they can't use it. It would be ok for your daughter to start booster training in. You could also look at the turbo booster, or the probooster.

Thanks! My oldest is in Pre-K - she and all of her friends are over 40lbs so I am not concerned about the 40 lb minimum. I will look into the other boosters you mentioned - since Britax has worked well for us I was just sticking close to home. Let me know if there are any specific advantages to the other seats you suggested for consideration.

Thank you!

I just purchased a Graco Turbobooster for that purpose as well- I have a 6yo (just turned) that is still harnessed in a Britax Regent and a Nautilus- I am a Britax momma too (also use a Marathon for my 2.5yo), so I initially wanted the Parkway but was uncertain about the secure guard clip- for a smaller/younger child I thought that made sense, but for my 6yo+ I just don't think it would be very useful for us, plus using it for other kids, etc. might be a pain to use.

A lot of moms here and some friends highly suggested the Turbobooster, it is super lightweight so it makes a great travel booster and to move from car to car, if she has a play date, etc or carpools with a friend.

We will be training her in DH's car with it too, although she will stay in her Regent in our main car for awhile, mostly because she loves the seat and we have no compelling reason to move her out. Since it hasn't been proven either way to keep harnessing or using a booster at this age, we will leave her harnessed as long as she is happy, fits, and is comfy. Plus I'm getting the money out of my Regent!

So I'd suggest the Turbobooster, $50 on average.

GL!

I like the Turbobooster better in this instance.

I know that my kids' friends who ride in boosters are almost all in Turboboosters. So for that reason alone, I'd do a Turbobooster (so the kids are more likely familiar with the seat already). Plus, it's cheaper.

I'd get a highback turbobooster. (As long as it fits your child well). Turbo boosters generally fit a wide variety of children and cars while from what I've seen of the parkway, it often has issues positioning the seat belt correctly.
