My daughter is just shy of her 2nd birthday and RF in RadianXT. She is going to her grandparents house for a weekend. They have a Chev Aveo which pretty much has zero backseat and there's no way the Radian will fit RF with them in the front :( I am keeping my daughter RF until she maxes out her seat. I'm so torn. It's only for a few days and don't want them to be housebound. Should I allow her to be FF just for the weekend?

Can you buy a $35 Cosco Scenera? You'd then have it as a back up/travel seat. And if she spent more time with the grandparents. I really would not even consider turning a child forward facing before 2yrs.

In Canada, the Scenera is more like $60 on a great sale, $80 usual sale and $90 regular price. Walmart usually has a decent price. Zellers may be clearing some out.

TRU had some great sales, may be worth calling to see if/what they have left.

The AAP minimum recommendation is 2YO. As I understand it (???), w/ preference going to the maximum of the weight of the seat. My Canadian MA is from 2009 and the RF limit is 30#, my guy is 2yo and almost there, he'll be transferring over to ODS's RN, but honestly I would not have bought him a new $300 seat if this wasn't an option, there will always be better higher RF seats out there and you have to draw the line somewhere...

The Scenera is on sale at WalMart right now for $59. Still the best deal that you will find on a car seat here, IF she will still fit in it rear-facing. (Fingers crossed that she isn't a really tall kid.)
