Question Advanced air bag sensors

Does the drivers seat have them? Or is it a given that someone is always sitting there so they are only on the passenger seat? My sienna says nothing touching the back of either front seat but I understand the odyssey allows touching of the drivers seat. I'm assuming its because drivers side doesn't have the sensors?

It has different sensors. It detects how far you're sitting from the airbag. So for someone like me (short) the airbag won't explode at 100%, it'll go off a bit less. Otherwise I don't know that there are any other sensors. Like you said, there should be an adult sitting there.

Advanced airbag senators detect the weight of the person sitting there and also how close the seat is to the steering wheel/dash. Different manufacturers have different ways of detecting this info, so there really can't be a single rule about whether driver's or passenger's seats are/are not affected by different things.

Thank you both! I thought they were only there to enable/disable the air bag.
