Accident-seat replacement

My DH was side swiped today.

DS was not with him, but our ca65 was in the car.

He has already talked with their insurance and mentioned the car seat.

How does that usually work? Does it have to be a similar seat? Do they just write a check?

We have a few seats for DS, but found out we are expecting #2 in January and need a new infant seat...is buying one of those allowed even though it was DS seat? I don't really want to buy an infant seat yet (so early), but if I can...

If not I should probably get a ff seat for DS. Our other seats will still keep him rf until baby is here.

One of my friends was in a wreck and they over nighted a check for the full price of the seat.

I would also suggest calling back. I believe they will pay you the value of the one that was in the car, and then you can go get whatever you want. My friend had an accident and her baby was in a (rf) infant seat, and she bought a Britax convertable. I think they gave her a check for the value of the infant seat and she just paid the difference Good luck.

We were rear-ended with two seats (and children) in the car, and our insurance company had us purchase new seats and then submit the receipts for reimbursement.

It's going to depend on how the particular company handles it. In my only experience, I sent photos and the names of the seats (brands/models), the adjuster looked them up on Amazon, then sent me a check for that amount.
