33 lb rfing Britax marathon expiration

I have an old style (33lb rfing limit) britax marathon that I got when my 5 year old was 4 months old (so January 2007) Does anyone know how many years these have on them? I don't have the car seat right now otherwise I'd check (a friend is using it) I was thinking it was 6 or 7 but just realized if it happens to be 5 it has probably expired!

6 years from the manufacture date. There should be a sticker on the outside of the shell at the shoulder area that has the date (could be up to 6+ months before you purchased it).

OK thanks, so it could just have a couple more months in it if the DOM was fall '06. I'll check it next time I see my friend and let her know about car seat expiration.

If it is not there, check inside, under the cover, on the butt area. My friend has two of them and I went nuts trying to find the stickers, and they were under the cover.

Mine that just expired in January was near the shoulder area. It was kind of hidden by the cover though, so you may have to lift the cover.

The sticker for ours (2007 manuf. date) is inside the sitting area, near where the LATCH anchors stow. It's a horrible place given drink and pee accidents. I covered it over with clear tape to try to protect it.

There *might* be another spot to check. Can't remember. Also, I think there's a tag with a date on the harness somewhere, perhaps. I can go look when the thunderstorm moves on through.

The date on the tag on the harness is when the harness was made, though, not the seat. It'll give you a rough idea, but no more so than buying it in early '07, so it likely has a later half '06 DOM.
