Question 30 degrees for a 2 yr old?

Is that ok? in an AOE?

I had been reading here and on another board that once a baby can hold their head up well the car seat can be at a 30 degree recline rather than 45 degrees. We transfered DD to the AOE at around 8 months and have never had it at a 45 degree angle due to this.

So today I get the new true fit for DS and DH and I are discussing whether to put DS in the AOE and give DD the true fit (since it has a deeper seat for leg room, and higher RF limits). But then I read in the manual that the 35 degree recline is for infants who can sit unassisted. DS (6 months) can hold his head up great. He's done so since three months. But he cannot sit unassisted. So I guess 45 degrees for him it is.

BUT the AOE will be ridiculously difficult to get at a 45 degree angle in my car.
I checked the AOE manual but it says nothing about an alternate recline to 45 degrees.

SO - has DD been sitting unsafe for the past 20 months? Or is she ok at 30 degrees in this seat? Since DS is unable to sit unassisted he'll have to be at 45 degrees.

If I have to put one at 45 degrees I'd rather it be the TF because of the removeable top. But if the AOE has to be at 45 degrees I'll do it and give DD the TF.

I would think if your child seems to handle the 30 degrees in the AOE, then it should be fine. You know your child best and know if he might have airway issues by being more upright. I think the True Fit is the only seat that has the 35-45 degree range; all the others have 30-45 degree range.

I am not a tech though so I am not sure of all the official rules on these seats. Hopefully one will see your post and respond about the allowed recline on the AOE.
