Question 2014 CRV - Two Rearfacing Carseats

My older child will be 22 months when my second is born and I would like to keep her rearfacing for as long as possible (at least until 2). Right now we have a Britax Marathon and a Graco Snugride 35. What is the proper configuration in a 2014 Honda CRV for these carseats (both rearfacing)? Is it possible to keep one in the middle and the other on the passenger side? I'm worried that a rearfacing Marathon placed behind the driver's seat might be an issue for the driver.

Alternatively, my husband drives a 2014 Honda Civic. What is the proper configuration for those two carseats (rearfacing) in his car?

Thank you.

The Marathon takes very little space if you install it very upright. The Snug Ride might take up too much space to leave room up front, but there are many infant seats that take up less room.
