I went to a car seat check this weekend. (All of our seats were installed correctly. Yay!) But they gave me some flyers to read. One of them addresses what to do if your car seat is outgrown before your child is 4:
Most 2-year-olds and many 3-year-olds are too immature to sit still in a booster with a lap and shoulder belt, which allows them to lean forward or sideways. Parents should consider getting a larger seat or a harness system for younger or more active children who outgrow their safety seats.
Is the problem with 2 year olds in boosters really just maturity to sit still? I thought it had to do with hip bone development and catching on the seat belt, and that bolstering under 4 was an absolute no-no? The way I read that answer it sounds like boosters are safe for a few 2 year olds and some 3 year olds?
Note that I am just asking the question because I was surprised to see that. My 2 year old is still rear facing in a 5 point harness and is years away from a booster.
