Question 1998 GMC Sierra Seatbelts

Anyone know what kind of seatbelts are in this truck? Not sure of the trim level, but I know it's an extended cab and a 4x4.

Locking bets? Lap belts? Will it have top tether anchors? It's a Canadian vehicle so that's mandatory here but I don't know as of when.

Thanks!

I have no idea for sure, but my educated guess would be lap/shoulder belt with an ELR and a locking latchplate in the two outboard positions, and a lap belt with a locking latchplate in the center. You'll probably have to add in top tethers.

It will likely need top tethers installed, unless a previous owner has done so already. IIRC the center seats will be lap belt only with a locking latchplate, and the outboard seats have retractors for both the lap belt and the shoulder belt. Older vehicles in this generation were definitely this style, and the seat belts were updated to single retractor lap/shoulder belts with the new body style in 99.

Rear seats.

So they do lock then? The only seat we own with lockoffs is a True Fit seeing as I sold the MA. And I can see DH having issues with the TF. But I doubt his beloved MR is gonna fit. I'm sure she's outgrown the Scenera. My mom's CA should fit...that's a whole other thread though.

I am growing to hate this truck. Although he's been fixing it for months so it might not be ready by winter anyway. That would be ideal.

I'm 95% sure that they are ELRs with locking latchplates in the rear seating positions, and a lapbelt with a locking latchplate in the center rear position. I have a 1997 Z71 and thats what we have in our back seat. My brother in law has a 97' or 98' Sierra, it is essentially the same truck or pretty darn close at least. The good news is you can fit a rear facing my ride in the back seat. It is very VERY tight though, but it can be done. I have never tried it forward facing though.

I tried posting a picture for you of my daughter rear facing in her my ride in our Z71 last night, but it was too large. Your truck is a 3 door right?

Yes it's a three door. I'd be interested to see a pic, because we tried to get the MR into my fathers 2010 Silverado and it was a pretty epic failure.

I'm thinking though if we can get it on the passenger side it might work. He won't have any passengers unless it's some sort of apocalyptic emergency so the seat can eat the dash.
