Hi! Can someone please recommend a backless booster seat? Or are they all pretty similiar, safety-wise?
I have a 3-yr-old who is still rear-facing in a Sunshine Kids Radian, in my car (the full-time car), and my 6.5-yr-old is harnessed in a Britax Frontier (with click-tight). All is well in my car, but with summer here and changing schedules, I'm finding the need for a convenient solution to send with my 6-yr-old when she has need to ride with someone else. She is 43 pounds, so definitely on the low end for a booster, and I'm not comfortable with a booster as a full time solution for her yet. But again, I need a convenient solution for these one-off rides she will be taking during the summer.
I am also thinking that if I buy a good backless booster now, it can be the booster she transitions into in my car (so hopefully I can avoid buying a million seats). But that won't happen for awhile. I plan to keep my 3-yr-old in the Radian for the foreseeable future: rear-facing 'til age 4, and then forward facing until the seat expires in 2019 (unless she outgrows it by height. my kids are lightweights). I'm thinking that at that point, my 3-yr-old will move into her sister's Britax Frontier, and her sister can go into the backless booster.
Is this a decent plan? And if so, what can you suggest in terms of the booster, for use now on rare occasion (really rare! I just got grandma 2 EvenFlo Maestros for her car, and my girls don't even ride with her that often. The backless booster will be for friends' or cousin's car, on rare occasion).
Thank you!
