expired car seat??

We have a boulevard car seat for my 20 month old daughter. We also used it for my older daughter. I took the cover off to clean it today and my older Daughter decided to "play" with the foam and broke it. I went to britax's website, and I can buy the foam cheaply... but, here is my question. The carseat was made in 2005. It will expire in 1 year. If i replace all of the foam, is it okay to be used longer or do I still need to replace it after 5 years, regaurdless if i replace the foam?

I am not sure if it is safe to keep after next year, or if i should just buy another one... ugh.

It'll expire on it's birthday in 2011, not 2010. So you've got two years.

It's the plastic degrading that's the issue, not the foam. So it won't be good any longer because it has new foam. Nor if you bought a new harness. Britax says the plastic becomes unsafe after six years from the date the seat was made (in your manual in the beginning warning sections it says "Discontinue use of restraint after six years," or something similar to that.
