Harnessed boosters with best recline?

In my car we've got two MAs and in DH's car, 2 Nautis. They get bad head slump in the Nautis and occasionally it happens in the MAs.

DS 1 will need a new seat after the first of the year (it will be 6 yrs since manufacture).

Eventually I will replace DS 2's as well ....wondering which harnessed boosters for them would have the best recline, most comfortable, etc. Or does the actual car's seat have more to do with how well the booster reclines? What is the safest amount of recline without compromising ability of carseat to protect well?

We have been happy with our MAs but I'm looking forward to upgrading the boys to bigger side wings, cushier padding and hopefully a lot less head slump.

How old and heavy are your boys? I'm guessing DS1 is six or thereabouts. :)

Do you have the Nautilus in the recline mode? It doesn't offer a lot, but it's a little bit.

Between the Nautilus and Frontier people report less slump in the Frontier. But in nearly a year my daughter's slumped once in her Nautilus, so for some people it's not a huge concern.

But you bring up a valid question. The backseat makes a big difference I believe. My backseat is steep like Everest. So Piper's Nautilus, even in the non reclined mode, is very reclined. Any seat would be. If you have a very flat backseat it's going to be more difficult to get a seat to recline if it doesn't have a built in function. And as far as I know, the Frontier does not.

What do you drive? If you have captain's chairs or a backseat that reclines that may be an option, but you'd have to check your car's manual to see if it's ok.

The Nautis are in my DH's 08 BMW 335i. It is a small sports sedan with a backseat that doesn't move. In my Dodge Nitro I can control the bench seat (it's a 60/40) but there is less of a head slump issue in that car.

Next year we"ll be getting a Land Rover LR3 and the nice thing about that SUV is the 2nd row is divided into thirds which makes seating and access to
3rd row good . . .but I'm not sure the seats would independentally recline past what is standard.

Sounds like the Frontier might be a good pick.

Oh, boys are 5.5 and almost 4, and they are both just shy of 40 lbs. My older one is 42 inches, younger is 40 inches.
