I was wondering if anyone knows why the recaro vivo is discounted. Is it being discontinued? I'm trying to decide between the vivo, britax frontier, and sunshine kids monterey for my 6 year old and the vivo seems a lot less expensive.

If you look in the thread below, the people who have been getting them lately for a really good deal are getting ones that are 2 years old. Not sure how long a Vivo is good for, but I would make sure that I allowed for that before seeing if it really is a "bargain". Prorate the cost of the car seat by year, if you were to pay full price and get one that has a very recent DOM. If the bargain is still cheaper year by year, then it may represent a good value.

The Vivo is good for six years and I have seen them not on sale for around $80. Making the monthly cost around $1.10, and with a seat that is already two years old, it comes out to be around $52, that is if the sleep-deprived mommy brain did her math right :p

Montly cost, new: about $1.11.
Montly cost, 2 years gone and $52: about $1.08.

You save about $0.03/month. So it's a good deal, IF you will use it NOW, but not a screaming hot one. :) (If you won't use it now you lose further years off it but pay the same price, so I wouldn't recommend in this case buying it now with the intention of using it later.)
