99 Odyssey without LATCH or FF tethers in middle row?

I've got a question that I've been trying to figure out for awhile - it would appear on my 99 Honda Odyssey that there is nowhere to tether a FF carseat when installed in the middle row of captains chairs, does anyone know if this is correct? I had to ask the dealership to retro fit tethers, and they did so only on the 3rd row of seats, is this the only place they can put them? Is there any way I can install FF seats in the middle row, can I get an extension or something and still tether them way in the back with the seats in the middle row?

You are right. The only way to tether is to put the 3rd row seats down and use those tether anchors. Also, you could use the 3rd row seat belt as a tether anchor. I have pics, will go find them.

ETA:

Here shows on the left, using the tether anchor, on the right, using the seat belt.

I tried putting the 3rd row down and using the tethers but it seemed like they were too short? The 3rd row seat belt as a tether is intriguing. I will (in the future) need to tether two FF seats.

Wow I had no idea you could tether that way! is that legal in Canada as well? I'm tethering a Frontier FF, the Marathon will go FF at some point, currently RF. Right now the tether is attached to the seat anchor, the captains chair is in the middle rather than outboard, the girls can hold hands that way and it's easier for someone to get to the third row should it be necessary. I'd prefer to leave the seats that way but I'm not sure we're 'supposed' to tether to the chair anchor. Although it's sure not going anywhere tethered to that! Then I need somewhere to tether the Marathon when it goes FF, the seatbelt would be a great alternative.

You can tether to the seatbelt in Canada, but some manufacturers have recently stated to Safe Ride News that they do not allow it... Although this is my own speculation, I suspect it's due to liability/lack of testing rather than any real world problem.

In Canada, it can be done that way but we say that is a temporary attachment if a permanent anchor can be installed.

To answer your original question about the Ody '99 captain chairs and TAs...
- The 2nd row driver side uses the TA in the tailgate sill with the 3rd row seat must be folded down.
- The 2nd row centre and passenger side uses the TA in the tailgate sill w/ the 3rd row seat folded down as the driver side seat. However, the 2nd row centre and passenger seats can also be retrofitted so the TAs can be under the seats. Part number is 82410-SX0-000CH (snap hook for installing to unused striker bar which is the bar under the vehicle seats)
