Would you still use the seat?

I posted a while back about finding my SS1 molded. It was just the cover and harness. I've gotten a new cover and a new harness is only going to cost me $20, but I'm wonder if the seat shell is still safe to use? Would the mold have effected it? Can I just wipe it down with a bleach mixture or do I just need to go ahead and get a new seat? I can get a new seat for about $100 (either a SR or maybe another SS1 if I can find it on sale).

Since we don't need anything big, except a swing, for this baby if it would be better to buy new, it's not an issue. I would just hate to have to destroy a good seat shell and base if I don't have to. I'd rather just have to spend another $20 instead of $100, but like I said it's not a big deal if I do have to spend more.

So WWYD, just by the new harness or get a whole new seat? TIA!!

Funny you posted this because I have a SnugRide that I just pulled out and the harness is molded. I don't know the answer to your question, but will be interested in the replies.

I wouldn't clean with bleach, it might not be good for the plastic; plastic is porous and bleach tends to weaken plastic it seeps into.

If you've checked the foam and there's no mold there you could give it a good washing with warm soapy water and put it in the sun to dry. That should get rid of any mold that was there.

But, if it looks like there are persistant spots on the plastic itself or the plastic seems weakened or damaged in any way, I'd trash it and get a new one.

Thanks! The mold was only on the front of the cover and the harness. DN had spit up on it apparently and SIL just wiped it off and didn't bother to tell me so I could clean it before I put it up. The foam was not molded, but it was for some reason crumbling so I had called graco and they sent a replacement foam. I got it in like a week after I got the seat back but I didn't change it out. So the foam has been replaced already and I got a used cover from ebay (from a member here) already, so all I need is the harness.

I did not see any mold at all on the seat, I did wipe it down with just hot water when I found it. It's been sitting back in that closet for a few months now and no issues.
