Nautilus or Frontier?

Hello,

I have 3 year old twin boys who are outgrowing their Eddie Bauer AEO. I stopped by a store to look at the Frontier and the Nautilus and I'm not sure which one would be the best for the boys. The boys are both hovering around 35# but B it taller and thinner, and M is wider in the shoulders. M did sit in a Frontier in a BRU a month or so ago and said it was comfy, but he often put his legs over the sides of his Radian in my car. My car is an 07 Mazda 5 and I think we'll keep the Radians there but I'm not sure. DH's car is an 02 possibly 03 Chev Impala. Oh and I found here in Ottawa that I could get the Nautilus for $209.99 and the Frontier for $299.99. Are those good prices? I thought the Frontier was a little high.

Thanks for your help!

I would personally recommend the Frontier hands down over the GN for a few reasons;

The Frontier is a lot wider in the seat, shoulders etc, etc.
There is more harness so it will likely accommodate a child closer to the 65lbs mark than the GN will.
The Frontier has a full 9yrs until it expires, the GN on the other hand has only 6yrs on the harness and HBB and 9yrs on the booster cushion.
The Frontier also goes a lot higher in HBB mode so when the time comes, they will be able to use it as a booster for a lot longer if needed.

That said I don't hate the GN I just think for the price difference it doesn't even touch the Frontier.

ETA: take a look at this thread... it has pics of both seats with the same kid

As for prices, $209.99 for the Nauti is a good price, I think I've seen a price range of $209 (sale at Sears) to 240. This thread lists Nauti prices: http://car-seat.org/showthread.php?t=68010

I am not sure on the Frontier but that sounds pretty standard too. Britax prices are up there, but it is a good seat which will fit a long time.

I guess this would depend on what your budget is.

I would suggest that you play with them both and try installing them in your vehicle. They are both safe seats and will do the trick. It will just be a personal decision of which one installs the best, fits your kids the best and the one that you like the best.

Hi,

I was wondering where in Ottawa you found a Frontier? I tried both Kiddytown and ToysRus on Merivale, but neither location had them in stock...
We need to buy 2 carseats for our children (ages 2 and 4) and are trying to decide between the Nautilus and the Frontier as well.

Thanks!

I got my Frontier in Ottawa at the Kiddytown near the Science and Tech museum (it's their location on Gladwin) back in June or so. I think I picked mine up the first week it was on the market. We'd been waiting for it to arrive so that we could move our baby out of the infant seat and into the Marathon that our eldest had been riding in.

I saw them at kiddytown near the science and tech museum on thursday. I didn't ask if they had them in the back, just looked at them in the showroom.
