Rear airbag question

Dumb question here...rear side curtain airbags offer head protection only, correct? Do any cars offer rear torso airbags as well? It seems like most the ones I've researched offer torso airbags in the front, but not the back.

I just looked into this for station wagons. The Passat wagon and the Audi A4 Avant offer rear side torso airbags as options. Both meet the specification for out-of-position passengers, but I think the jury is still out on whether rear side torso airbags are beneficial, neutral, or potentially harmful. If your kids are restrained, they're probably not endangered by them. I ended up buying a car that doesn't have them, but has outstanding side impact ratings (a Subaru Legacy).

As twokidstwodogs said, there are a few with rear seat torso airbags, mostly luxury vehicles. I doubt you will find much data on rear seat torso airbags. Most studies have been in regard to side impact airbags for head protection. Newer side impact airbags of any type are likely to be safe, though it's unclear how much benefit a torso airbag in the rear seat provides vs. the cost of the luxury vehicle you would have to buy to get one.
