Side Curtain Airbags

I have a 2007 Sienna XLE. It has side curtain airbags. I was getting a new booster for my 8 yo DD and I was wonder if I need to worry about getting a seat with deep side impact protection or would basic (more shallow) sip be enough since I have side curtain airbags which would deploy in the event of side impact?

It is not clear how much protection is afforded to children by either side curtain airbags or boosters with SIP features. It certainly doesn't hurt to have both, though they may or may not be a significant improvement in safety for children.

A lot depends on how low the curtain airbags extend for children. SIP features on a booster also depend on the type of crash. If there is forward movement, the head and body may extend past the wings, making them less effective.

So, I would suggest you go for the booster that provides the best fit of the seatbelt on your DD and/or is easiest for you and your DD to use correctly.
