I just bought a new safe seat infant seat in the legacy print for the new baby due in 7 weeks. The manufacture date on the car seat is 12/9/05. Is this okay or should I return it for a "newer" one?

It's fine. Most seats expire six years from date of manufacture, so you've got 5.5 years left on that one.

I wouldn't fret over six months... but you can definitely return it if you want a newer one.
When I bought Charlie's latch loc, I had to get one that had a manufacture date of April 2004 (he was born August 2005) because it was the newest one I could find! But, I wanted that seat, so I dealt with it.

In many stores thats a new as you're going to get. I wouldnt fret over the 6 months that have pasted unless you're planning on using this seat for more children that are spaced far apart. Most moms want to replace their seats by that point anyway b/c of the advances and features so you may not even want to use it for the entire time.

yeah that's true. I gave away my first baby's snugride to a needy couple because I new that I would want a new car seat when I had another baby. My son and this new baby are only 2 1/2 years apart and technology has already changed so much.
