which seat to bring?

I asked this before but I wanted to make sure. Which seat should I bring with us on our trip to Washington/Oregon? The answer I got last time was to bring the SS1, since it's so much easier to fly with. We are bringing a stroller since we will need it on the trip, which won't hold the SS1. It's a Mia Moda Cielo(thanks to courtfrog2 ;)) So do I just hold the SS1 through the airport. Should I get a Radian with the carry straps? It would be a good reason to try it out! :p Or use the RA with the gogo kidz through the airport and put the stroller in the travel bag? We plan on renting a vehicle, but I don't know which one it will be. BIL is taking care of that. Any suggestions? Should I just take the SS1? I'm will to buy whatever will make our trip easier. We will be flying again in December to St Luica so what ever we use for this time I will need again.

I would still take the SS1, and use some kind of bungee cords to tie the EMPTY seat to the back of your stroller (I'm assuming the stroller will be used for your son?). Or, use a sling for your son, and put the empty seat in the stroller, I bet you could buckle it in somehow.

You might want to consider getting a snugrider car seat stroller frame. They are great for traveling and the ss1 just snaps in.

since my ds will be 16 months old, I don't think he will want to ride in the ss1 when we go site seeing. it will be ok for the car ride, but not while were out and about.

I bet it will fit... have you tried it?

Now, I wouldn't put it on the stroller constantly, especially for a 16mo old, but for the airport purposes, it should work because the Cielo has a tray.

recline the seat all the way and try it facing you, and then try it facing out.

if it doesn't work at least one of those ways (unofficially, of course), I'll be STUNNED.

Now... regardless of fit, I would take it because it is going to be the easiest thing to be trying to install in a car of unknown make/model.

it's also going to be lighter than the Radian (even if you are carrying it) to lug... easier to install (especially if you don't take the base, because you can install that with a kid in it)

And it will take up less space on the plane for the person sitting in front of baby.

also, you will likely have less of a chance of a FA being stupid and making you put baby forward facing if you have a rear-only childseat (which happens to have it's limits printed on it clearly)

yeah, the cielo doesn't have the tray. it's this stroller..(thanks courtney!)

but like you said, even if it doesn't fit it's going o be easier to install. i guess we will just carry it through the airport. lol, i did try the RA on it, and it fits great!
