Booster and Combination seat question

I have three kids ages 6, 3 1/2 and 21 mos.

My 6 year old and 3 1/2 year old are both in Turbo Boosters. We just moved my 3 1/2 year old into the seat, as she is pretty much the same size as a 6 year old. My 21 mos old went into a combination seat (NextStep) using the harness.

I have a few questions though. Should I be "locking" the shoulder strap on the TurboBoosters? I have an '02 Odyssey and it has the retractable locking seatbelts. It is my understanding that the boosters do not need to be anchored, correct?

On the combo seat, I've got it locked in with the seatbelt and we use the 5 pt harness. Should I be using the anchors with this (actually, I'm not even sure if the carseat has the anchors) or is the belt just fine?

TIA

You should definitely be using a top-tether anchor for your NextStep. If yours does not have a top tether strap, one should be available from Century/Graco. Your tether anchor is located under the seat and can be found using your owner's manual or at http://www.car-safety.org/odyssey.html . You can also use the LATCH system if your NextStep includes it, or by using an optional LATCH retrofit Kit from Century/Graco ( http://www.car-safety.org/latch.html#kits ).

Locking the shoulder belt for a booster is usually an option, as long as the owner's manual for the booster does not recommend against it. This should only be necessary for real squirmy kids or if you find the seatbelt is often too loose. In a crash, the belt will lock automatically.

Thanks you very kindly!

The combo seat didn't have the bottom anchors, but I tethered to top! Very easy! :)
