I'm looking for advice on how to proceed. I have a soon-to-be 8 year old (in August) who weighs 58lbs and is 4 ft 4 tall. He's currently in a Radian RXT (forward facing but in harness mode, not booster mode). It looks like he's outgrowing that by shoulder height - his shoulders are bumping up against the sides of the head rests, and it's uncomfortable for him.
I'm assuming I should get him a high-back booster that will last him another couple years? What can I get him that he likely won't outgrow quickly, that's comfy and of course safe? Willing to spend more money for a seat that will last him longer and/ or for a seat as narrow as the Radian (see car situation below).
Additional info: My other kid is a small-ish 5-yo. She's in an Evenflo SureRide/ Titan 65. I'm assuming we'll switch her to the Radian when her brother gets a new seat. They are both in the back of a Subaru Outback. Currently, we cannot fit an adult in between the two, mainly because of the Evenflo. If we could get a booster for the older kid that's as narrow as the Radian we might be able to occasionally fit a person in between the two kids' seats, and that would be a bonus (not a must though). Also, we also own a cheap simple booster for traveling - but I'd strongly prefer a high back booster if it will last us another couple years.
I would love to hear your input on what to buy/ how to proceed. Thank you so much!
