Question Car seat law in Ohio for babies in a front seat only pickup

My son has a Ford F250 pick up with just one front seat. He has a new baby, about 1 and 1/2 yrs old now. His wife told he the baby could never ride in the pick up truck with him. She said it is a state law that the baby cannot ride in pickup. This is all he has. This is in Ohio. Can he not put her in her child safety seat and turn off airbag on passenger side? I have read it is not recommended, but I cannot find out that it is a law. What are you supposed to do, go buy another vehicle that you can't afford or just not take baby to grandparents house?

The issue is that in more modern years, they don't put switches in to turn off the airbags. This means that you can never ever put a rear-facing child there without risk of death, unless you apply for a waiver, order a switch, and find someone willing to put it in.

If you can't safely put a child in a given vehicle, the only safe option is not to use that vehicle until/unless it can be made safe. It's an inconvenience, but a child's life is worth finding a way to deal with the inconvenience. An active airbag going off with a rear-facing child there could propel the child back with such force their skull will be smashed. It's a life or death matter.
