I consider myself to be competent with car seat installation and have been able to achieve rock solid installs in a variety of vehicles with a variety of seats. After beating on the smart car for a couple hours, I think I need help.
We have a Frontier (ClickTight) and a Peg Perego convertible. I can’t get a solid installation with the Peg, and the tether for the Frontier isn’t long enough due to a quirky design. The seats don’t have adjustable headrests, so the tether has to go over the top and through a little loop at the back of the headrest before attaching to the anchor in the floor. I can’t go around the headrest because the angle of the seat would cause the tether to wrap around the side airbag.
Has anyone had success with installation in a smart car? It is far from my first choice for a vehicle, but we only had one car and this one was given to us as a gift. I would like to try to make it work for the odd time when we need to be going in opposite directions with the kids.
