Is this allowed? Or does it have to be a lap/shoulder belt?

This will be 3rd row of my 2003 chevy suburban in the center seat which has lap belt only and top tether. The outboard seats on this row have lap shoulder belts but no top tether. How can I know for sure if i can install occasionally outboard and borrow the top tether from the middle seat?? Thanks!

It can be installed forward-facing with a lap belt but must be top tethered as well.

Your vehicle doesn't allow such borrowing.

Your seat DOES allow installing with a shoulder belt without a top tether in the US (though tether is preferred.) It also allows installing with lap only and top tether. It does NOT allow lap only WITHOUT top tether forward facing.
