Question Rear Facing Advocate G4 height limit

My 2.5 yr old's head is around half an inch from the top of the car seat shell. My Britax Advocate G4 was produced 06/2014 and suggests rear facing "when the top of child's head is at least 1 in below the top of the child seat shell".
It will seat children rear facing up to 40 lbs and he is only 34 lbs, so good for the weight. The wording is a bit ambiguous in my opinion. Should I be switching him around since he is half an inch from the top of the shell? (He is good on the shoulder line though)

Any advice is appreciated- thank you!

Hi there. So glad you've come to ask. :)

He's outgrown it rear facing, unfortunately. He's hit the relative height limit.

When you turn it forward facing make sure you use the top tether and move the straps to above his shoulders.

Can you post a picture? It's extremely rare to outgrow that car seat at that age by height. (Or at any age by height before weight.) Or tell us his shirt size at least. Maybe we can troubleshoot.

It's very common to outgrow seats via height before weight. The Advocate G4 usually got kids to about a 3T shirt. The G4.1s that allow to 1" of headrest get kids to about a 4T shirt.
