Question Graco Infant Bases

Hi there -

I've gotten pretty good at installing my convertible car seats thanks to a lesson from CPS Darren a couple years ago. Tomorrow, my in-laws have asked me to try and install their Graco base for my niece due any day now. Installing in the center seat - no latch available there. The hospital did it for them and its absolutely terrible. They bought a Graco SnugRide Classic Connect 30...this one specifically: http://www.buybuybaby.com/store/pro...1040168746?skuId=40168746&registryId=10830139

I watched through the CarSeatBlog video on installing this particular base and in the video the base has a center lock-off. Five years ago, our Graco base didn't have a lock-off at all, but came with a metal seat belt clip. I can't see in the description of the seat if there is a lock-off and they can't seem to find any metal clips. It must have one or the other right? In trying to prepare for my duties tomorrow, can someone tell me if all of Graco's bases have lock-offs nowadays? That would make it so easy - fingers crossed.

If not (and let's assume they can find their seat belt clip), is there a good video on installing a Graco base using the metal clip?

Thanks in advance! Karlie

I'm pretty sure the classic connect 30still doesn't have a lockoff. The locking clip might be on the seat or might have come in a bag with the instructions.

They shouldn't need a locking clip unless their vehicle is from before 1997 though. Unless it's tilting a lot when installed properly? If it is, here is a good page on how to use one: http://www.carseatsite.com/lockingclips.htm

Good luck! :)

Thank you! Got both of the bases installed in their cars this morning. Was able to get them very tight and level. I appreciate the information. Now to place a phone call to the hospital to get them to stop allowing the valet guys to pass themselves off as car seat experts!!
