Special needs transport

So we've been struggling with Shiny with the local special needs transport people. She has a harness with the school that is installed in the buses and is very secure. Then she rides home with Ridesource, and that is basically a nightmare. I can't haul the Frontier 85 to the bus every day (I've tried it, with a 50 pound child and a 20 pound seat and a 30 pound child on my back, it's just flat out too much.) So I've been sending a booster seat... which they've installed with a lap belt only (all the belt that exists on the Ridesource van).

We NEED another option. Until we get enough respite coverage that we can have a dedicated person to drive her home, it has to be packable. I am completely overwhelmed trying to figure out harness options--the bus has lap belts and nothing else and she rides a different bus every damn time.

Do the buses have top tether? There is a harness that attaches to a lap belt and goes over the shoulders and attaches to the top tether. I cant remember the name right now.

Is this a true bus or a van? Or a mix of both? There are several options but it depends on the answers to those questions what is appropriate.

So we ended up going back and forth and trying pretty much every option: low-back booster was a no due to no shoulder belt. Frontier 85 too heavy and doesn't fit and not proper anchors. She's "legally" able to ride belted but in practice her waist is too small for the seat belt to fully restrain her.

Which they didn't tell me until she'd ridden that way 3 times but that's another issue.

So then the bus driver tells me, "She was moving too much so I put her in the kid seat."

I said, "What kid seat?"

"The one that folds down in the back, we have them on all the buses."

Excuse me while I go put my straightjacket on and call the guys in the white coats.

Anyway, problem solved, that seat fits her perfectly and she doesn't fight it or move too much.

But when I called the main office, they said, "What kid seat?" And then went ot check and sure enough most of the buses have them.

I just don't even.
