To clarify, 4'9 AND 80 pounds OR nine years old?
I hope this also gives the push to have roadside checks do more than shine a light in the vehicle to just see if any child is in a seat.

Yes, that's how I read it. Either age (9 years) or size (4'9" and 80 lbs).

The quote at the top was from the government website. I assume that is how the law is worded.

It was supposed to be in effect last year already, but after the initial talk about it, I never heard another word. Now, out of the blue, here it is. Definitely been a lot of talk on facebook about it!

It looks like an "or" law - they have just used a point summary and semi-colons instead of listing it as 4'9", 80lbs, or 9yrs old.
Either way - congrats! There has been a situation come up in AB that is leading to a possible review in child restraint legislation. I asked my contact to bring up that it would be a good time to look at booster legislation at the same time - if they're reviewing things they might as well do more than just the one thing...
