Is it possible? can the base be removed to slim down the footprint? I seem to recall it was an option but the owners manual doesn't say anything about it.

Is there a seat that would work better? (Canadian)
Kid is 2, FF and tall.
Thanks!!

I used to have one and i think the base can be removed when ff and must be removed when the seat is used in booster mode. There is a lot of narrower seats available. Would you like to rear face again?

The base is no longer removable on Alpha Omegas. A 2 year old could still benefit from bring rear-facing, but if the child must be forward-facing I would recommend the Evenflo SecureKid, Graco Nautilus, or Britax Frontier.

Hi,

Check the booster portion of the manual. If it doesn't say to remove the base for booster mode then you know it's a non-removable base. It's basically a very quick way of determining which model you're dealing with. Like a cheat.

Also, I'm around if you ever need help. :)

The base hasn't been removable for a number of years now.

The new 2012 Alpha Omega's are HUGE! They were never easy to install, and now are just that little bit more difficult.

A Radian (Diono) has a small footprint and could be used Rear Facing if that was something you might concider. If not it is a long lasting forward facing seat. Also a harnessed booster seat like the frontier or Graco Nautilus could be a contender as well. If you really want a convertible there are also the Britax versions that have a smaller footprint as well.
