This is WHY you don't want to leave an unoccupied carseat in a childs reach. He may have very well strangled to death :(

OMGosh, thank goodness you found him when you did! How scary :(

I was actually sitting right there with him on my computer uploading photos. I had my camera sitting right there, so I was able to take a snapshot real quick. He was in panic mode by that point. It was already around his neck pretty well. Because he was trying to get out, he kept wiggling further and further down so it got tighter and tighter around his neck.

My dd was about 4, she went downstairs while I was in the shower and buckled herself in her MA. She hadn't mastered UNbuckling. I came downstairs and she was just patiently waiting. I was . We buckle and tighten any seats sitting in the house now.

 Thanks for the wake-up call! Dh put our AOE up in the closet the other day, but before that it had been sitting on the LR floor for quite a while... :( I *think* it was buckled the majority of the time, but the little ones played with it some so there's no way to be sure... I can't imagine the shock of coming downstairs to find that an item I place so much trust in to keep my children SAFE, had become not only unsafe, but deadly... :(

Thank heavens you were right there to help extract your little guy!

I think I'm going to go buckle and tighten DD's carseat right now. We have it sitting in her closet so that it's easily accessible when we need it, and until we get a car.

You know I got to thinking...

Any "spare" seats we keep in our house are WAY up in a closet, where the kids could never get to them.

These two particular seats (in the photos) were due for a bath. So, if that is the case I ALWAYS keep them right by the entryway or in the kitchen. That way I can always see them "just in case" something were to happen.....like today

You know I always let Karley play with the seat in the living room. I won't be doing that anymore. Thanks for the post on safety!

Yipes! We need to make a Youtube video (I always remember that there is a warning in the manuals not to play with seats in the house, and then ignore it, I'm sure everyone else is the same way )

Lovinwaves, Could you post a photo of that FPSVD cover? I've never seen one up close. Is that circus dots? Does anyone know if Britax still has those covers? I think I like that.
