Question Toyotaa Corolla 2004 - rear facing seat allowed to touch front seats?

Hi, we purchased a diono for our Toyota Corolla 2004 car. We would like to install it rear-facing and in the middle. In this position, it does touch the front seats. Does Toyota allow this?

An alternative would be to install the seat behind the passenger seat with the passenger seat pulled to the front. Would that be a better alternative?

Thank you!!!

It can touch unless you have advanced airbags. You should double check but I believe in the Corolla they were not standard until 07 and were not phased in until 05 as an option, so you are probably fine to touch.

How old is the child that will be riding in the seat? If he/she is over 1 year, then you can purchase the Angle Adjuster from Diono to make the seat install more upright, and quite possibly eliminate the front seat touching, giving more front passenger space.

Hello,

Thank you for the information. I looked at my car's handbook. There is no mentioning of an advanced air bag. The only warning is that a car seat should not interfere with the front seats lock mechanism.

My child is 20 months and I purchased an adjuster for her. So, we'll try to see if we can install the car seat more upright (now, I only need to find the adjuster :) - where did I put it ...).

Thanks for the quick response! Very much appreciated!

Let us know how the install goes and if you need any pointers :)
