Pop Up Ads

I just witnessed a pop up ad that slid across my screen left to right.

I'm not positive Car-Seat.Org was the source, and by force of habit I closed it before I realized it might have come from here.

If anyone sees this type of ad when Car-Seat.Org is your only browser open, please report it here.

If possible, please attach a screenshot, website name and if you are willing to click it, the URL that results when you do.

Pop-ups are not supposed to occur with the ad networks used here, so if they are, some advertiser is not following the rules and I need to report/block them.

If anyone sees a pop-up ad, can you please provide the following if at all possible?

1) What was the ad

2) A screenshot

3) Where you saw it (home page, forum listing, forum thread, etc)

4) What other ads appeared at the same time on the page

5) If you are willing to click the popup, what URL resulted when you did?

These are somewhat difficult to troubleshoot. I've contacted the ad network to make sure they are disabled but I may need to block advertisers if they are bending the rules.

I haven't seen any pop ups, but I had to laugh because it looks like you posted an issue, and then responded to yourself to tell yourself what to do about the problem. LOL

I just had one for Jc Penny's took over the whole screen. Had a little x box to click out of.

There have recently been some which were rollover, such that if you happened to scroll past it so your cursor went over it it would pop up an ad, but now I can't remember who the advertiser was.

Often, viruses can manifest that way.

Do you recall if you were reading a specific thread or if you were looking at the listing of threads at the time?

There are some banner ads that note that you can mouseover to start a video or something of the type. These are generally permitted by the terms of the network advertisers. The ones that pop-up on their own should not be appearing and I'm having a difficult time tracing them down to a particular network so far.

Any more reports would be great, please include exactly were you saw the ad (home page, thread listings, specific thread), what banner ads appeared on the page at the time, a screenshot if possible, what the pop-up advertised, etc. Thank you!

One of the culprits has been identified and they think they have resolved the issue, but claim that JCP is not one of their advertisers so that may have been something else. Please post again if it happens again please!
