Question Head position

Hi David,

There are two ways a head can move. To the front (chin to chest) and then side to side.

Side to side isn't a problem. Babies can have their heads practically in front of their shoulders and be neither bothered nor uncomfortable (we used to call it decapitated baby, since from behind you couldn't see any part of their heads).

Chin to chest for a child without head control is a concern. That can close off the airway of a young infant. For this you recline the angle of the carseat.

If you're uncomfortable with the side to side motion and your carseat doesn't have support enough for your comfort, you can always roll receiving blankets (taping them will keep them in sausage shape) and put one on either side of the child's head. http://www.carseatsite.com/rolledblankets.jpg
