Does anyone have any information on this booster seat?

My sons car seat is about to expire. He is 2 1/2 and already 16.5 kgs and most here harnessed boosters here in NZ only harness up till 18 kgs. I want to purchase one that will keep him harnessed for longer so going by his current weight he will outgrow a 18 kg limit one in no time. I have been googling but I can't find much information on this seat other than this http://www.productreview.com.au/p/phil-teds-tott.html which just says 12 months to 8 years but I have found that after 18 kgs you have to change to just a seat belt.

The main problem is I can't afford something new so I have to go with second hand and this is the only one that I have found so far but I can't buy it without knowing the weight limit.

Oh and I have asked all the other questions in relation to buying a second hand seat but I am waiting on a reply.

Hi :happy-wavehello:

My sil has a Tott for her son, he is 3 years & 4 months old and has outgrown the harness by height all ready, the weight limit on the harness is 18kg, the weight limit on the booster is 36kg, with a minimum weight of 15kg. I personally wouldn't be comfortable putting a child under 4 years of age in a booster.

I dont really like the tott, it feels light weight & a bit flimsy, sil has been using hers for a year and the puzzle buckle has broken, it is also hard to tighten and loosen the harness.

Would you consider buying a brio and turning him back rear facing?

Baby factory had the Evenflo Triumph 65 on sale for $300, it ff till 29kg.

Also it took forever for my son to hit 18 kg, even though he was 16kg at 3, now at almost 6 he is only 20kg, their weight gain slows down as they sprout legs lol

I am ok with buying second hand car seats, but I know a lot of people on here aren't. I check that the seat hasn't been in a crash, that the straps haven't been washed and that the seat has been generally looked after well.

Thanks for that, so I am guessing the phil and teds is out of the picture then :)

I just looked at the brio but I don't think rear facing would work with us. Yes I know it is better than ff but he has been ff for ages now. So that only goes up to 25 kgs rf and 18 kgs ff? I found one in Auckland for $100 but if it is still only 18 kgs harnessed it won't work for us.

Do you have any other suggestions? I don't want one that separates into two pieces. All the ones like that I have looked at only go up to 18 kgs as well though.

I was looking at saving for this one if couldn't find a cheap second hand one. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=518255067

It's so tricky, most of our seats are Australian or European and only harness up to 18kg, I remember having the same trouble when my son was younger, I ended up buying a second hand frontier off and American who lived here, it harnesses up to 36kg!!

That seat you linked looks good :)

The Britax Two Way can be used forward-facing with harness until 25 kg (55 lbs.) It's certified for EU use, and I believe that standard is accepted in NZ?

It's not recommended to buy a used seat unless you trust the seller with your child's life to be totally and completely honest with you.

The two way is legal here :) I have one that I use rf for my dd & ff for everyone else. I only paid $400 for mine, but I got an awesome deal (it was new) they don't come up second hand very often & are really expensive to import :(
