Flying with 4 mos old

Am getting ready to fly with my 4 mos old by myself in 2 weeks. I have a boulevard and then a peg infant carrier (she screams bloody murder every time I put her in it so thinking it wouldn't be good fora plane ride). I bought her her own seat. The boulevard is so wide I worry about the plane seat since we are in puddle jumpers most of the way. Also it is heavy and I don't really want to mess the seat up with constant in and out of plane and cars during our short trip! I was wondering about getting another one for travel. I want something light and that will recline well in the plane (our flight is from 6p to11pso I pray she will sleep). What options do I have? Is the coccoro best or the scenera? There is a huge price difference, but I want to make sure she is safe as well as make it as easy as possible.

How tall and heavy is she, and do you travel by plane often?

The Cocorro is a great travel seat and I would say it's probably easier to install. But if your baby is on the bigger side it might not last long and it's worth thinking about with the price tag.

The Scenera is hard for some people to install. I've never had trouble, but I've never put it on a plane. I've heard that it usually needs noodles on plane seats.

Both seats will keep your child safe. Carseats are tested on a pass/fail system so everything that is on the shelf passes. We can't say beyond that as far as safety.

And just YAY!!! for buying her a seat and using a carseat on board. :)

I agree with the other poster. Scenera, onSide Air (a padded Scenera), or Coccoro. We have a Coccoro for travel, and it's easy enough that if I need to I can carry Laine on board in the seat and install her right in it. It's also narrow enough to wheel down the aisle of nearly every plane on my suitcase. Often with her sitting in it (she gets the warning, "Toes in!" so she doesn't bang her feet on seats).

I have traveled with Britaxes though. They fit on puddle jumpers. The armrests on the seat go up except for the bulkhead row. So they fit by width and front to back. You could wear her on your back, carry the carseat on board, install it rear facing (super easy with the seatbelt above the cover) and then get her off of your back. Find wheels for the carseat for the airport. Either a Traveling Toddler, a luggage cart and bungee cord, or a GoGo Kidz. Some people also attach it to a stroller. Whatever. Something to make it easier to get the carseat around the airport so you don't have to carry it. Then its weight doesn't matter much. If you're only going to travel occasionally, this may be the most economical option. If you're going to travel a lot, I love having a separate travel seat.

Yes, I forgot to give you a thumbs up on buying her a separate seat. It's safer for her and everyone else on the plane, so good choice!

Does she scream in the convertible seats too? Is it the infant carrier, or the carseat generally? My third child screamed in any carseat until he was a few months old. If it's all carseats, I'd stick with the infant seat - it's just so easy to travel with. Otherwise, you got great suggestions.
