how close is too close?

When trying to fit three across, or even two side by side, how close is too close to be safe? Can the seats be touching against each other? What about near the doors? Can they be touching the door of the car? If I am going to invest in new seats to fit everyone in the car, I want to make sure the whole configuration is actually safe.

Thanks again for all the help!

As far as I know...
Seats can touch (we see this all the time with "puzzled" seats). As for the car door, I think it's OK if it touches the door when it's closed as long as you aren't forcing the door closed.

Oh sorry. I'm not totally sure how to best explain this. It's basically when you take different seats and install then to that they fit together like puzzle pieces.

can someone explain this better than I, please?

yes they need to be installed tightly by removing the first seat, check for movement then re install the first ... does that make since... puzzling also is like the marathon ffing next to a radain ffing they puzzle right together by the marathon shell cuffing over the radian shell. i know there's a pic of that somwhere on here too...

Cool... so if they are all installed tightly on their own accord, it doens't matter if one seat laps over the other a little bit? I am working out logistics of getting 2 ff, 1 rf in a saturn vue working with 2 wizards and trying to determine how many new seats I need :)
