Dear Forum Members,

We are expecting twins shortly and currently looking to buy infant car seats that are both safe and good fit in my 2002 BMW 325i car.

In our research we found the following 2 models -

1. Graco SnugRide 30 Infant Car Seat, Jacqueline
2. Graco SnugRide 30 Infant Car Seat, Carlisle

Any recommendations and suggestions are really appreciated.
Also, is it still safe to install these car seats in my 2002 BMW 325i (one in center and other behind passenger seat) side by side so that my wife can sit behind the drivers seat? Is it safe that way?

Thanks,
RedmondDAD

Hi RedmondDad. Seattle CPST here. :)

Both of the seats you mentioned are the same, just different covers. And they'd be one of my top recommendations.

Otherwise I'd look at the Chicco Keyfit, Cybex Aton, maybe the Maxi Cosi 35, Safety 1st onBoard 35. Those last two are slightly larger front to back, but if you can sacrifice the front passenger seat that'd be ok. However, it may not be as viable an option long term.

The important things to look at for twins in a short front to back space, and putting two side by side (yes, that's safe) is to have low bottom slots (in case the babies are early and/or small) and a rectangular shaped base, rather than something that flares out somewhere. Bases that flare don't fit next to one another as well, and bottom slots that are too high won't fit a smaller baby. The ones I mentioned all meet those criteria. But it sounds like you guys like the Snugride 30, which is a fantastic seat for any baby, and fits tiny babies very well, and is narrow, and fits in small places front to back, and can have the handle up, and really would be a great seat for you.
