Question High Back Booster in an accident with no one in the seat-Canada

I'm new to this board, I came on here because I have a question I am hoping I can get some help with. Our parked car was hit yesterday. It was hit pretty hard, skidding a few meters and completely damaging the drivers side in the back of the car. My daughters high back booster was in the car on the opposite side of where the hit happened. I know with a harness I would replace immediately, but since it was a high back booster, and no one was even sitting in it, is it OK to keep?

Re: High Back Booster in an accident with no one in the seat

Welcome to the board! We'll be happy to help you. A few questions:

-What brand is the booster seat? Many say to replace in any crash. Some go by NHTSA criteria.
-Did any airbags deploy?
-Was the car driveable from the scene?
-Was the booster buckled in at the time? Is there any visible damage to the seat (inspect it carefully- take off the cover and look at any foam that is on it, check for stress marks or dents or chips in the plastic, etc.)

Hopefully with the answers to those questions, we can let you know whether or not you need to replace the seat. :)

And, someone here got Canadian Tire to price match and someone else said Super Store were price matching automatically.

I was unsure as well when I was hit with a booster in my car since it was a low back unoccupied unlatched seat but the manual said that it should be replace if involved in an accident of any kind (it's a graco turbobooster). The insurance company had no qualms about doing it.

thanks for the help. I called the manufacturer and they recommended just getting a new one. Sorry it took so long to reply, I'm still trying to navigate the message boards :)
