Mexico Car seats

We stopped at Walmart on the way to our resort in Mexico - Cabo San Lucas. They had 2 car seats for sale. No pic, sorry. I didn't have my camera or phone with me when we went there. An infant seat which was some Dorel, iirc. The other was a Fisher Price convertible. It was colorful and looked nothing like the last round of FP seats here. It also looked small. I didn't get close enough to read anything on it.

Any ideas? I think it reminded me of the Gerry seats - those types of colors.

I can see why people don't use car seats. Those are crazy expensive! I bet only rich people can afford car seats!

That first one is the equivalent of $107 USD. The most expensive one is $178. I don't consider that outrageous.

Same as in brazil. The main brand there is infanti or Burigotto which is Graco in disguise. But the seats are so damn expensive. A seat that would roughly compare to the comfort sport, short shell and even lower weight limits costs over 300 in Brazilian money. Also not many convertibles and the ff seats usually become boosters but my 18 month duaghters head was dead even with the top of the shell and she is tiny. I cannot imagine how they expect them to become boosters. They get some britax and they sell for over 900 and I am not even kidding. Chicco just arrived there and a chicco trevi stroller is close to 1k. A graco travel system with the quattro stroller and the SR 32 cost over 1600 in Brazilian money (close to a thousand dollars). I am going to Brazil again next month and I will try to play car seats there.

Agreed! Those prices are outrageous for most of the average citizens there. We got to know some locals on a trip there a few years ago and that would 2-3 weeks worth of his salary if I remember correctly!
My SIL is from there but purchased a Britax from here and took it there to leave for trips.

None of those looked like it. It clearly said Fisher Price on the seat back by the head.

I guess those prices are pesos?

Even if it is in Pesos, $100 to most people in Mexico is a small fortune. Here it's like, "meh, went to dinner at Outback with mah frienz"
