Question Cosco High Back Booster in Mazda 5 3rd Row?

We're looking for a cheap back-up FF seat to use with one of our toddlers in the 3rd row of our 2010 Mazda 5. We'll only be using it occasionally when we need to put an non-seated child or adult in one of the 2nd row seats.

We have two FF Radians in our 2nd row and understand that they're not compatible with the seat belts in the 3rd row. We like the Cosco High Back Booster because it's cheap. Does anyone know if it works with the 3rd row seat belts?

If not, any suggestions for seats that are cheaper than the Graco Nautilus? Since we won't be using it very much, we'd be a lot happier if we could just spend the $40 for the Cosco High Back Booster instead of the $140 or so for Nautilus.

Many thanks for your replies.

How old are your toddlers? In general, toddlers should be rear facing. Plus, the Cosco HBBs are generally outgrown very early, sometimes before three years old by torso height.

Let us know their ages and weights. But I'd look at the Evenflo Maestro as a better forward facing seat rather than the Cosco HBB. And if they're under three, I'd be looking at a rear facing seat.

DS is two years old and about 37in tall. I was reading some more on the forums about possibly using a Diono angle adjuster for the Radian to make it fit in the 3rd row. Does this really work? If so, it sounds like that would be our best option? It seems like his legs might be super scrunched RF in the 3rd row. That's why we were looking at cheaper FF options. We'd really only be using the seat as a back-up but if we could just put a RF in the 3rd row with the angle adjuster that would be awesome.

A 37" child is likely to outgrow the harness by height in just a few more inches. The Cosco HBB has a very very short harness.

And I agree that 2yos should be rear-facing.

The angle adjuster and Radian work well in the third row, and leg room isn't an issue. Back there they could put their feet into the trunk.

Great! Thank you for your replies. I ordered an angle adjuster and will give it a try. It sounds like it will do the trick. If we like it, we'll flip him back to RF in the 2nd row too since that's the safest. If we ever end up needing a FF booster for that back row, I'll keep the Evenflo Maestro in mind. Thanks. This site is such a great resource!

OMG the AA is AWESOME! We can put the front row seats all the way too when we use it and the Radians fit in the third row with the 2nd row seats all the way back! We're going to order another and turn our other toddler back to RF too. As far as I understand from the manual there's no height limit for RF just the weight limit of 45lbs. Please let me know if I'm wrong. Many thanks!
